On the torque exerted by a warped, magnetically threaded accretion disk

چکیده
Most astrophysical accretion disks are likely to be warped. In X-ray binaries, the spin evolution of an accreting neutron star is critically dependent on interaction between magnetic field and disk. There have been extensive investigations torque exerted by a coplanar disk that magnetically threaded lines from stars, but relevant works warped/tilted still lacking. this paper we develop simplified two-component model, in which comprised inner part outer, tilted part. Based standard assumption formation toroidal component, derive dimensionless show warped/titled more up compared with We also discuss possible influence various initial parameters torque.

A precessing warped accretion disk around the X - ray pulsar
We have performed an analysis and interpretation of the X-ray light curve of the accreting neutron star Her X-1 obtained with the ASM RXTE over the period 1996 February to 2004 September. The averaged X-ray light curves are constructed by means of adding up light curves corresponding to different 35 day cycles. A numerical model is introduced to explain the properties of the averaged light curv...
متن کاملInstability of an accretion disk with a magnetically driven wind
Abstract. We present a linear analysis of the stability of accretion disks in which angular momentum is removed by the magnetic torque exerted by a centrifugally driven wind. The effects of the dependence of the wind torque on field strength and inclination, the sub-Keplerian rotation due to magnetic forces, and the compression of the disk by the field are included. A WKB dispersion relation is...
متن کاملMagnetically Arrested Disk: an Energetically Efficient Accretion Flow
We describe an accretion model around a black hole which behaves like a practical analog of an idealized engine originally proposed by Geroch and Bekenstein. The Geroch-Bekenstein engine has nearly 100% efficiency in converting rest mass of accreting matter into useful energy at infinity. Based on recent 3D MHD simulations of black hole accretion, we assume that the accreting gas drags in a str...
متن کاملA Warped Accretion Disk and Wide Angle Outflow in the Inner Parsec of the Circinus Galaxy
We present the first VLBI maps of H2O maser emission (λ1.3 cm) in the nucleus of the Circinus Galaxy, constructed from data obtained with the Australia Telescope Long Baseline Array. The maser emission traces a warped, edge-on accretion disk between radii of 0.11± 0.02 and ∼ 0.40 pc, as well as a wide-angle outflow that extends up to ∼ 1 pc from the estimated disk center. The disk rotation is c...
متن کاملWarped Disks as a Possible Origin of Torque Reversals in Accretion-Powered Pulsars
Enigmatic transitions between spin-up and spin-down have been observed in several X-ray pulsars accreting matter via an accretion disk. In these transitions, the torque changes sign but remains at nearly the same magnitude. It has been noted previously that alternating prograde and retrograde disk flows would explain many features of the torque reversals, although it has been unclear how a stab...
